4.1

P-06-1235 Ensure appropriate provision of services and support for people with Acquired Brain Injury in Wales

The Committee considered the correspondence received and agreed to write to:

 

  • The Welsh Government seeking a response to the concerns and questions raised by the petitioner regarding the quality and breadth of services and support provision for people in Wales; and

Betsi Cadwaladr UHB to request an update regarding provision of Acquired Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation services in north Wales.

P-06-1248 Change Standing Orders and admissibility criteria for petitions

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write to the Llywydd who determines the proper form of public petitions submitted under Standing Order 23 seeking her response to the petition.

4.3

P-06-1255 Ensure fathers/birth partners are involved in all assessments & care throughout the perinatal period

The Committee considered the correspondence received and noted that positive action is being taken to address concerns regarding fathers’ involvement throughout the perinatal period and that the petitioner has welcomed the opportunity to be involved in shaping and influencing future work. The Committee therefore agreed to thank the petitioner for raising this important issue, campaigning to seek change for others – and closed the petition.

P-06-1256 Hold a referendum on Wales becoming a Nation of sanctuary

The Committee reiterated the heartfelt offers of support from the people of Wales standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the strong support expressed by Members of the Senedd, reinforcing how Wales wishes to welcome asylum seekers and refugees.

 

The Committee noted that a consultation has already taken place on the Nation of Sanctuary plan which was widely supported. Therefore it agreed to thank the petitioner and close the petition.

P-06-1257 Reduced Council Tax for private estate properties

The Committee considered the correspondence received and agreed to write again to the Minister asking for a proposed timeline for new legislation to be brought forward and further whether Local Authorities have or could be given the power to set up their own maintenance companies.

P-06-1259 Ban the use of non biodegradable dog poo bags

The Committee considered the correspondence received and accepted the Welsh Government’s approach to tackle the issue as part of their approach to reduce littering, therefore, the Committee agreed to thank the petitioner and closed the petition.

P-06-1260 End the need for covid passes for all events and activities

The Committee considered the correspondence received and agreed to thank the petitioner and close the petition now that Covid passes are no longer required for events and activities.

5.1

P-06-1224 Design a 'Care Leavers Plus' Universal Basic Income pilot that includes a range of people

The Committee welcomed that all recommendations made in their report have been either accepted or accepted in principle. They congratulated the petitioner on the successful outcome and agreed to close the petition.

P-05-1001 Hold an independent inquiry into the choice of site for the proposed new Velindre Cancer Centre

The Committee considered the history of the petition. In light of the previous plenary debate, Committee consideration and debates in the courts, the Committee agreed that this is as far as it can be taken and agreed to close the petition.

The Committee considered the correspondence received and the history of the petition. In light of  the previous plenary debate, Committee consideration and debates in the courts, the Committee agreed that this is as far as it can be taken and agreed to close the petition.

P-05-937 STOP BOILING CRUSTACEANS ALIVE (lobsters, crabs, crayfish, prawns etc)

The Committee considered the correspondence received and

agreed to write back to the Minister asking when a decision is likely on this matter.

P-06-1217 Open Long Covid one stop medical hubs / clinics

The Committee agreed that whilst Welsh Government are delivering services which meet the needs of many people with Long Covid, it is clear that this is not appropriate for all as highlighted by the petitioner. The Committee agreed to write to the Minister suggesting that the Welsh Government may find it valuable to meet with the petitioner and other patients to listen to their concerns and suggestions. The Committee noted it would be useful to link the petitioner to the work being undertaken by the cross-party group on long COVID.

 

6.

Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from item 7 of the meeting
