Follow up on Fifth Senedd Health, Social Care and Sport Committee recommendations

As part of its work programme, the Sixth Senedd Health and Social Care Committee will follow up on recommendations made by the Fifth Senedd Health, Social Care and Sport Committee.

Loneliness and isolation (report published December 2017)

As part of its work on mental health inequalities, the Committee wrote to the Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing on 11 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations.

 

Following a letter from Ministers with responsibility for health and social care on 11 October 2022, the Committee responded to reiterate its request for an update on the recommendations. The Ministers responded on 31 January 2023.

Use of antipsychotic medications in care homes (report published May 2018)

As part of its work on mental health inequalities, the Committee wrote to the Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing on 11 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations.

 

Following a letter from Ministers with responsibility for health and social care on 11 October 2022, the Committee responded to reiterate its request for an update on the recommendations. The Ministers responded on 31 January 2023.

Suicide prevention (report published December 2018)

As part of its work on mental health inequalities, the Committee wrote to the Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing on 11 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations. The Deputy Minister responded on 26 August 2022.

Physical activity in children and young people (report published March 2019)

The Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 8 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations. The Minister responded on 26 September 2022.

Endoscopy services (report published April 2019)

The Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 8 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations. The Minister responded on 24 August 2022.

 

In October 2022, the Committee launched a follow up inquiry into endoscopy services.

 

The Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 10 March 2023. The Minister responded on 25 April 2023.

Dentistry in Wales

(report published  May 2019)

Following on from the Fifth Senedd Committee’s report, the Committee launched a follow up inquiry into dentistry in July 2022.

 

The Committee published its report on 15 February 2023 which includes recommendations to the Welsh Government.

 

The Minister responded to our report on 18 April 2023.

 

A Plenary debate was held on 21 June 2023.

Hepatitis C (report published June 2019)

The Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 8 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations. The Minister responded on 30 August 2022.

 

The Committee wrote again on 26 September 2022 to seek further information. The Minister responded on 21 November 2022 and 3 February 2023.

As part of its work on mental health inequalities, the Committee wrote to the Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing on 11 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations.

The Committee is also undertaking ongoing work on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its management, on health and social care in Wales.
