P-06-1359 Offer Welsh working parents the same financial support for childcare as England

Rhys ab Owen MS declared the following relevant interest under Standing Order 17.24A:

 

He is the father of a 3 year old child and a two month old baby.

 

The Committee considered the petition and noted the letter received from Oxfam Cymru. Members agreed to highlight the issues raised and seek further clarity from the Welsh Government before deciding on the next steps to take.

P-06-1363 Save our Fire and Rescue Service

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write to the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority regarding the petition to ask for its timetable to responding to the consultation and other issues raised by Members. It will also reconsider the petition once the Welsh Government’s response is received.

Updates to previous petitions

5.1

P-06-1161 Routine collection and publication of data of how many babies/children return to their care experienced parents care at the end of a Parent and Child Placement

The Committee considered the petition and noted the joint plenary debate that took place on the petition and the Children, Young People and Education Committee’s report on care-experienced children.

 

Members noted the Children, Young People and Education Committee will continue to pursue progress on the wider issues and in light of this agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner for their engagement with the Committee.

P-06-1337 Sycharth, the home of Owain Glyndwr, should be bought to safeguard the site for future generations

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write to Powys County Council requesting directional signage leading up to site and a more prominent sign on arrival at the site.

P-06-1358 Review the inadequate funding for Schools in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to invite the petitioner and Governors Wales to a Committee meeting in November to provide evidence on the specific issues they are facing and the solutions they wish to propose.
