Statement of Policy Intent

2.1     The Committee received evidence from the Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government.

2.2     The Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government agreed to providing additional information to the Committee as follows;

 

Ø  Provide the Committee with a copy of their response to the questions raised on this Bill by the Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee including those in respect of the need to simplify the complex legislative landscape for housing;

Ø  Write to the Committee in light of further discussions the Cabinet Secretary intends to have with the social housing sector in respect of the additional costs for social landlords of the Bill’s duties, particularly in respect of category three buildings and the accuracy of the assumptions on

which the additional costs quoted in the evidence from Trivallis are based;

Ø  Write to the Committee on the findings of the Local Partnerships’ report on delivery models for implementation of the Bill and whether a role for Joint Inspection Teams had been considered by Local Partnerships; and

Ø  Provide the Committee with summary of your discussions with the Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership, Jack Sargeant MS, on the development of an apprenticeship scheme in Wales for environmental health practitioners.
