Election of the Presiding Officer under Standing Order 6 Minutes: The item
started at 15.05 The Clerk of the Senedd invited
nominations in accordance with Standing Order 6.6. Lynne Neagle nominated Elin Jones. Siân
Gwenllian seconded the nomination. Laura Anne Jones nominated Russell
George. Alun Davies seconded the nomination. The Clerk invited the candidates to
address the Senedd. As there were two nominations, a secret
ballot took place in accordance with Standing Order 6.8. The results of the secret ballot were
as follows:
The
Clerk declared Elin Jones elected as Presiding Officer. In accordance with Standing Order
12.18, at 15.50 the meeting was suspended before the Presiding Officer took the
Chair. |

Election of the Deputy Presiding Officer under Standing Order 6 Minutes: The item
started at 15.54 The Presiding Officer (Elin Jones)
invited nominations in accordance with Standing Order 6.6. Joyce Watson nominated David Rees. Llyr
Gruffydd seconded the nomination. Dawn Bowden nominated Hefin David.
Laura Anne Jones seconded the nomination. The Clerk invited the candidates to
address the Senedd. As there were two nominations, a secret
ballot took place in accordance with Standing Order 6.8. The results of the secret ballot were
as follows:
The Llywydd declared David Rees elected as the Deputy Presiding
Officer. |

Nomination of the First Minister under Standing Order 8 Minutes: The
item started at 16.47. The
Senedd resolved to take nominations for the appointment of First Minister, in
accordance with Standing Order 12.11. The
Presiding Officer invited nominations for the appointment of First Minister, in
accordance with Standing Order 8.2. Rebecca
Evans nominated Mark Drakeford. There
were no other nominations, so in accordance with section 47(4) of the
Government of Wales Act the Presiding Officer stated her intention to recommend
to Her Majesty the appointment of Mark Drakeford as First Minister. The
Presiding Officer invited Mark Drakeford to address the Senedd, followed by
leaders of the opposition parties. |
