Description
This Cross Party Group was dissolved at the end of
the Fifth Senedd (April 2021).
Cross-party Group on Food
Purpose
In the
context of the public health emergency around obesity, the group provides a
platform for discussing the challenges for food producers, distributors and
consumers. The NAW rightly celebrates good Welsh food but for many of our
citizens this is a rare or never experience. Brexit is disrupting existing
markets; imported food is already more expensive and the prognosis for sheep
farmers looks dire under all possible scenarios.
The
Group will examine the need for a Food Action Plan to optimise the opportunities
and minimise the threats of Brexit that embraces public health, rural and urban
development and economic prosperity.
