Human Trafficking

The Terms of reference for the inquiry were to consider :-

• the role of the Wales Anti-Slavery Co-ordinator, including its effectiveness and achievements so far;
• the effectiveness of multi-agency working between UK and Welsh Government departments and other bodies such as health boards and the police, particularly considering the Council of Europe 2012 ‘GRETA’ report conclusion that the UK suffered from a lack of leadership on slavery;
• the role of local authorities in identification and awareness raising- the 2009 SOLACE report on human trafficking recommended that all local authorities have a lead officer able to provide support and knowledge to practitioners; and
• how recommendations from the GRETA, SOLACE and the Strategic Round Table reports are being taken forward, and plans for future work.
