Legislative Consent: Pension Schemes Bill
The Pension Schemes Bill (the Bill) was introduced in the House of Commons on 5 June 2025.
The long title to the Bill notes that it is a Bill “to make provision about pension schemes; and for connected purposes.”
The Bill is subject to the legislative consent process under Standing Order 29. This is when the consent of the Welsh Parliament is sought by the UK Government to legislate on an issue which falls within the competence of the Senedd.

in Plenary on 24 February 2026.

On 10 February 2026, the Business Committee pre-emptively agreed (PDF 72KB) to invite the Local Government and Housing Committee and the Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee to consider and report on the Supplementary Legislative Consent Memorandum (No. 2) by 24 February 2026.

The Welsh Government laid a Legislative Consent Memorandum (PDF 94KB) on the Bill before the Senedd on 26 June 2025.
The Business Committee referred the LCM to the Local Government and Housing Committee and the Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee with a reporting deadline of 3 October 2025 (PDF 36KB).
The Local Government and Housing Committee laid its report (PDF 169KB) on 25 September 2025.
On 30 September 2025, the Business Committee agreed (PDF 58KB) a new reporting deadline of 21 November 2025.
