NNDM8916 - Member Debate under Standing Order 11.21(iv) - Allied health professionals

NNDM8916 Mabon ap Gwynfor (Dwyfor Meirionnydd)

To propose that the Senedd:

1. Notes the crucial role that allied health professionals (AHP) play in maintaining a healthy population allowing people to be socially and economically active.

2. Expresses concern at:

a) workforce shortages in the allied health professions;

b) the ageing profile of the AHP workforce; and

c) the growing population need to access AHP support.

3. Calls on the Welsh Government to:

a) develop a long-term workforce strategy for AHPs;

b) increase student placements for AHP; and

c) increase routes to qualifications in Wales in order to meet growing demand.
