Cancer Services in Wales

Following the publication of the Auditor General for Wales’s report, Cancer Services in Wales: A review of the strategic approach to improving the timeliness of diagnosis and treatment in January 2025, and the subsequent response from the Welsh Government, the Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee agreed to undertake an inquiry into cancer services in Wales.

Oral evidence sessions

Ø  The Committee held an oral evidence session with representatives of the Wales Cancer Alliance at its meeting on 26 March 2025 and Public Health Wales at its meeting on 10 July 2025.

Ø  The Committee held an oral evidence with Welsh Government at its meeting on 1 May 2025.

Correspondence

The Committee wrote to Public Health Wales on 2 April 2025 and a response was received on 22 April 2025. The Committee discussed the response at its meeting on 1 May 2025.

Committee report

The Committee’s report was published on 20 February 2026. Welsh Government responded on 18 March 2026.
