Charging for exhibitions

The Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee is undertaking an inquiry into charging for access to exhibitions.

Following Draft Budget scrutiny, the Welsh Government told the Committee “like all our Cultural arm’s length bodies, Amgueddfa Cymru is exploring all available fundraising opportunities and options for further income generation. This includes exploring a range of potential future charging options, only one of which is charging for entry to some or all of its museums in the longer term”.

The Committee will be considering issues such as:

>>>The contribution charging can make to income generation;

>>>The impact of charging on diversity of audiences;

>>>The impact of charging on visitor experiences;

>>>Whether and how charging should be targeted at particular groups; and

>>>Welsh Government assistance for temporary exhibitions.
