Scrutiny of Building Safety in Wales

The Auditor General for Wales published a report in August 2023 which looks at how the Welsh Government, local authorities and their key partners are implementing the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022.

The Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee have decided to conduct an inquiry to explore evidence on matters arising from the report, including workforce resilience, financial management and to consider the sector's ability to respond to change ahead of full implementation of the new regime being introduced in 2025, under the Building Safety Act 2022.

The Committee held an evidence session with external stakeholders on 17 January 2024 and held a further evidence session with officials from the Welsh Government on 1 February.
