As part of its remit, the Culture, Communications, Welsh
Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee is responsible for
scrutinising the National Library of Wales as one of the devolved public bodies
in Wales.
The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth collects and preserves material relating to Wales and the other Celtic nations. It plays an important role in the cultural and educational life of Wales.
The Library was established by Royal Charter in 1907. Its
main functions are to:
>>>>
>>>collect and preserve the intellectual record of
Wales, in many different media as well as a vast collection of printed material
published mainly through its status as a legal deposit ‘copyright’ library; and
>>>give access to this information and knowledge to a wide variety of people.
