Social care and social services
The remit of the Health and Social Care Committee includes looking at policy and legislation, and holding the Welsh Government to account on issues relating to social care.
Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) is the independent regulator of social care and childcare in Wales. Its role is to register, inspect and take action to improve the quality and safety of services for the well-being of the people of Wales.
On 30 November 2022, the Health and Social Care Committee held a horizon scanning session with CIW to explore key issues
affecting social care and social services. Following the session:

messages around the fragility of the social care sector.

to CIW to follow up issues discussed during the session. CIW responded
on 5 January 2023.
