Hospitality, retail and tourism issues



The Economy,Trade and Rural Affairs Committee agreed to undertake a short piece of work on Hospitality, Tourism and Retail.


The Inquiry built on the evidence heard on 30 September 2021 and focused on the recent effects of COVID and the future of the sectors.


Specific areas of focus included:


>>>the sectors’ recent experience with COVID and economic recovery.

>>>the longer-term viability and sustainability of the sectors.

>>>workforce issues – including improving the quality of jobs in the sectors and addressing labour shortages; and

>>>skills in the sectors.





The Committee published its Report Raising the Bar: Securing the future of

Hospitality, Tourism and Retail on 6 July 2022.
