P-06-1275 Call on the Government to reconsider its decision to withdraw from the Llanbedr bypass scheme

petition was submitted by Annwen Hughes, having collected a total of 2,704
signatures.
Text of Petition:
Following months of
constructive discussions, the Government withdrew from the scheme to build the
bypass at Llanbedr, Gwynedd, based on flawed information in their report.
Not only will abandoning
the bypass be detrimental to the environment as hundreds of cars will continue
to queue in the village, the decision is also a huge blow to any hopes of
developing high quality jobs at the airport – the main hope of providing good
work for our local people in this part of Meirionnydd.
This petition was considered completed by
the Petitions Committee at its meeting on 27/03/2023.
The Committee considered
the petition and noted the frustrations felt by the local community. However,
in light of the fact that the Roads Review report is clear that the Llanbedr
bypass scheme won’t progress and the fact that The Welsh Government have noted
their willingness to work with Gwynedd County Council and meetings scheduled
with the local community to explore alternative solutions, the Committee agreed
there was little further they could do and agreed to close the petition and
thank the petitioner for highlighting this issue.
