Provisional common framework on public health protection and health security

The Health and Social Care Committee is considering the provisional common framework on public health protection and health security.

The provisional common framework on public health protection and health security was published on 28 October 2021. It sets out how the UK Government, devolved governments and public health agencies will work together on public health protection and health security outside the EU.

On 26 November 2021, the Health and Social Care Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services and Public Health Wales to seek further information about the framework.

After consideration of the responses received from the Minister for Health and Social Services and Public Health Wales, the Health and Social Care Committee wrote to the Minister on 21 March 2022.

The Minister provided a holding response on 9 May 2022, stating that she was unable to respond to the recommendations until all UK legislatures had completed their scrutiny of the framework. The Committee wrote back to the Minister on 14 June 2022 to ask for substantive responses in respect of recommendations that were specific to Wales or the Welsh Government. The Minister provided a further holding response on 11 July 2022.

Further background information about common frameworks and the Senedd’s scrutiny is available on the common frameworks webpage.
