The Climate Change, Environment and Infrastructure Committee (“the Committee”) will undertake periodic scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales (NRW) during the Sixth Senedd.

The Committee undertook its annual scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales on Thursday 18 January 2024.

 

Annual Scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales – 2022-23

The Committee undertook its annual scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales on Thursday 9 February 2023.

Annual Scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales – 2020-21/22

The Committee undertook its first annual scrutiny of Natural Resources Wales on Thursday 20 January 2022.

Welsh Government response: The Welsh Government responded to the Committee’s report on 10 May 2022.

Plenary debate: A debate was held in plenary on 22 June 2022.

 

Background

NRW was established on 1 April 2013 when the responsibilities, assets and staff of the Countryside Council for Wales, Environment Agency Wales and the Forestry Commission Wales were brought together. Alongside a wide range of operational and regulatory responsibilities, NRW is the principal adviser to the Welsh Government on issues relating to natural resources. NRW, as a Welsh Government Sponsored Body, is accountable to the Welsh Ministers and subject to scrutiny by the relevant Senedd Committees.
