Scrutiny of the Welsh Government’s Health and Social Care Winter Plan 2021 to 2022

Inquiry5

The Health and Social Care Committee has identified winter planning for health and social care as a priority in its strategy for the Sixth Senedd.

Winter 2022-23

The Committee discussed planning for winter 2022-23 with the Ministers with responsibility for health and social care during a general scrutiny session on 6 October 2022, and the response to the pressures facing the health and social care sectors during scrutiny of the Welsh Government’s draft budget 2023-24 on 11 January 2023.

Winter 2021-22

In October 2021, the Welsh Government published its Health and Social Care Winter Plan for 2021-22.

The Committee held a short inquiry into the Welsh Government’s winter plan, to look in particular at:

>>>>

>>>how well services are coping, including any particular pressure points and areas of concern as we move further into winter;

>>>the effectiveness of this year’s approach to winter planning; and

>>>any lessons to be learned for next winter.

On 10 February 2022, the Committee held a scrutiny session with the Minister for Health and Social Services on the Welsh Government’s Health and Social Care Winter Plan 2021 to 2022. Following the session, the Committee wrote to the Minister with follow up questions. The Minister responded on 21March 2022.
