Scrutiny of public administration
Scrutiny of public administration
The Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee called for contributions on how the Committee should approach the public administration part of its remit.
This was the first time that the Senedd has had a dedicated public administration committee. The Committee is responsible for scrutinising matters relating to the machinery of government, including the quality and standards of administration provided by the Welsh Government civil service and Welsh Government Sponsored Bodies. Like its predecessor, it is also responsible for scrutiny of public accounts.
To help the Committee consider how best it should discharge this part of its remit and what their priorities should be, the Committee sought views on:
- principles and best practice for scrutiny of public administration;
- what information and evidence the committee will need in order to maintain effective oversight of public administration; and
- priority issues we may wish to consider.
The Committee has now concluded its consideration of this area of work.
