At its first meeting the Senedd must elect a Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer (Standing Order 6.1).

The Presiding Officer will be elected first, followed by the election of the Deputy Presiding Officer. The procedures for electing both offices are identical, and are explained in detail in Section C of the Guide to early Plenary business after the May 2021 election (PDF, 175KB).
