Correspondence from the Deputy Minister and Chief Whip
regarding the socio-economic duty
The Welsh Government offered briefings to Senedd Committees ahead of a new Socio-economic Duty coming into force on 31 March 202.
These briefings would provide Committee Members with an
opportunity to understand the legislative framework and principles behind the
Duty.
Commencing Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, the Socio-economic Duty, will require specified public bodies, including the Welsh Ministers, when making strategic decisions such as deciding priorities and setting objectives, to consider how their decisions might help to reduce socio-economic disadvantage.
