Draft Public Audit (Amendment) (Wales) Bill
Draft Public Audit (Amendment) (Wales) Bill
The
Finance Committee
undertook a consultation on the draft Public Audit (Amendment) (Wales) Bill.
This
followed on from the Finance Committee’s inquiry to consider
proposals to amend the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2013.
In
December 2019, the Committee published its report Consideration of proposals
to amend the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2013 (PDF, 2.8MB) and agreed to consult on a
Draft Bill, with a view to introducing it the Fifth Senedd. The Draft Bill
seeks to amend the Public Audit (Wales) Act
2013 in
order to address issues identified during the Committee’s post-legislative
scrutiny of the Act.
Given the limited time remaining in the Fifth Senedd and the
coronavirus pandemic, the Committee was unable to introduce the Bill. Instead,
it reported on the
outcome of its consultation (PDF,
900KB) and recommended that a future committee
of the Sixth Senedd introduces the Bill.
On 3
July 2024, the Committee wrote to the Auditor General consulting him on the
Public Audit (Wales) Act 2013.
