To
propose that the National Assembly for Wales:
1.
Calls for the investment initially earmarked for the Welsh Government’s
rejected M4 relief road proposal to be refocused towards the rapid development
of a long-term vision for a green and sustainable integrated Welsh transport
network, which includes giving priority to addressing the congestion issues
around Newport.
2.
Calls on the Welsh Government to ensure that the National Infrastructure
Commission for Wales plays a central role in guiding strategic and long-term
national infrastructure planning.

following amendments have been tabled:

June regarding the M4 corridor around Newport project.

Notes the proposed next steps outlined by the Minister for Economy and
Transport and an expert Commission to be led by Lord Terry Burns.

Recognises the significant congestion issues on the M4 network around the
Brynglas Tunnels and the impact it has on Newport and the wider economy.
4.
Notes the Welsh Government’s commitment to developing and funding sustainable
and effective solutions to congestion issues as part of an integrated,
multi-modal and low carbon transport system.
