Legislative Consent: Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill

The Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill, a Private Members Bill introduced in the UK Parliament by Chris Heaton-Harris MP. The stated principal policy objective of the Bill is to encourage responsible innovation in medical treatment.

 

The Welsh Government tabled a Legislative Consent Memorandum in relation to the Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill (PDF, 186KB) on 13 January 2016.

 

The Legislative Consent Memorandum was referred to the Health and Social Care Committee by the Business Committee on 19 January 2016 with a reporting deadline of 25 February 2016.

 

The Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill was amended during Report Stage at the House of Commons on 29 January 2016. Relevant clauses relating to Wales were removed from the Bill. As such, the Welsh Government determined that a legislative consent motion would no longer be required (PDF, 154KB).

 

The Health and Social Care Committee did not report on the Legislative Consent Memorandum.
