Managing Early Departures

Following publication of the Auditor General for Wales’ Report Managing early departures across Welsh public bodies in February 2015, the Public Accounts Committee considered whether Welsh public bodies demonstrated that they are securing value for money from the use of early departures to control or reduce workforce costs as part of the work undertaken on financial challenges across local government in Wales.

The evidence taken specifically on managing early departures helped to inform the Committee’s wider consideration of issues relating to the financial challenges facing local government. The Committee also considered this matter further in the course of its scrutiny of 2014-15 accounts in the autumn 2015 Term.
