Health Finances 2013-14
Health Finances 2013-14
The
Auditor General for Wales published his report NHS Wales: Overview of Financial
and Service Performance 2013-14 in October 2014. This report provides a detailed assessment of
the financial position across NHS Wales in 2013-14. It also looks at
performance in the delivery of services, focusing on those areas that the
Department has identified as a priority. The report also considers the future
financial and service challenges for NHS Wales.
The
Public Accounts Committee
undertook a short inquiry based on issues raised in the Report and considered
why three NHS organisations failed to break even in 2013-14 and that waiting
times and other key performance targets are not being met.
The Committee’s findings were included
in its report on Health
Board Governance and Finance which was published on 29 February
2016.
The Committee noted that the Auditor General for Wales
intends to undertake a review of the impact of the NHS Finance (Wales) Act 2014
during the fifth Assembly and recommends that the successor Committee considers
any lessons arising from the Auditor General’s report, when published.
