P-04-591 Fair Funding for Local Government
UNISON
Neath Port Talbot Branch call for the Welsh Government to reconsider the
proposed budget cuts of up to -4.5% to Local Government funding. Local
Government budgets are at breaking point and any further cuts will have a
devastating effect on local services which the most vulnerable of society rely
upon.Cuts to local government services will put further pressure on an already
over-loaded NHS. These cuts are short sighted and the funds that are being
diverted from local government to the NHS will not have the desired
effect.Local government social services has a positive effect on keeping people
out of hospital and maintaining these services is imperative in order to ease
pressures on the NHS.
