The increasing incidence of dementia requires a critical re-think of services as well as attitudes. Earlier diagnosis and assessment can keep people out of hospital and enables them to shape arrangements for their long term care. People need services which are multi-disciplinary, flexible and cost effective to support them as their needs change.

The UK Government is holding back the Welsh Government’s abilities in relation to asylum seeking children in Wales. Child safeguarding is a devolved issue, but the extent to which the UK Government has interpreted its reserved competence of immigration, to treat any issue related to asylum seekers, asylum seeking children and refugees as reserved matter, including those areas which are devolved competencies of the National Assembly for Wales has, in many instance, run counter to the Welsh Government’s objectives for the citizens of Wales: on children’s rights, equality and working towards a fair and inclusive society.
