Agriculture (Wales) Bill

Purpose of the consultation

The Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee undertook Stage 1 scrutiny of the general principles of the Agriculture (Wales) Bill (the Bill). To help inform its scrutiny, the Committee asked for views on the general principles of the Agriculture (Wales) Bill and the need for legislation to deliver the stated policy intention.

 

The individual Parts of the Bill were asked to be considered when coming to a view on this:

>>>Part 1: Sustainable Land Management

>>>Part 2: Support for agriculture etc.

>>>Part 3: Matters relating to agriculture and agricultural products

>>>Part 4: Forestry

>>>Part 5: Wildlife

>>>Part 6: General

>>>Any potential barriers to the implementation of the Bill’s provisions and whether the Bill takes account of them (including the UK Internal Market Act 2020 and any international law);

>>>The appropriateness of the powers in the Bill for Welsh Ministers to make subordinate legislation (as set out in Chapter 5 of Part 1 of the Explanatory Memorandum);

>>>Whether there are any unintended consequences arising from the Bill; and

>>>The financial implications of the Bill (as set out in Part 2 of the Explanatory Memorandum).
