EVENT : Skye & Luna: launch of a childrens book to support families experiencing stillbirth, neonatal loss and SIDS

Description: This event celebrates the launch of the book Skye & Luna written by Cardiff mother, Philippa as a resource for children and families who have experienced the loss of a child through still birth or in infancy. You will hear from Philippa about her daughter Luna, lost to SIDS at three days old and, in particular how she remained a vital presence in her family, despite the trauma of her loss. Philippa will introduce the book she wrote which frames her familys experience through the lens of her first-born daughter, Skye. You will hear from others who work to support families facing similar tragedies from a local charity and from a healthcare professional. Each will reveal the needs that families have in managing their loss, what may help and what gaps remain in support for families. The event will focus on immediate help for families whilst also offering reflections on some of the broader social context that impacts families in such circumstances. It will ask how we can open up the conversation with family, friends, colleagues and others about death, about SIDS, about families experience of traumatic loss.
Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
