Description: SkillsCompetitionWalesaimstoraisetheprofileofskillsinWalesandoffersstudents,traineesandapprenticesinWalesachancetochallenge,benchmarkandraisetheirskillsbytakingpartincompetitionsacrossarangeofsectors.FundedbytheWelshGovernmentandrunbyadedicatednetworkofcolleges,work-basedlearningprovidersandemployer-ledorganisations,itconsistsofaseriesoflocalskillscompetitions,alignedtoWorldSkillsandtheneedsoftheWelsheconomy.TheRenewableEnergycompetitionisateamcompetitionthatwillresearchintohowvarioustechnologieswithinthegreentechnologysectorcanprovideenergyforhomesandindustry.Forexample,windturbines,solarphotovoltaic,tidaldevices,hydroturbinesandhydrogen.ThescopeofthecompetitionenableslearnerstodevelopandputintopracticeavarietyofskillsandknowledgethatarerequiredtocreateawholisticenergysolutionforafictionalcoastaltownAber-feddaulocatedontheWesternpeninsulaofNorthWales.
Open to the public: AttendanceattheeventisbyinvitationonlyhowevertheSeneddandthePierheadwillremainaccessibletothepublicduringournormalopeninghours.
