EVENT: Reaching Wider Mentoring Project

Description: The Reaching Wider (RW) Programme is a HEFCW-funded widening access to higher education initiative to tackle barriers to entry, progression, and success in higher education (HE) for the RW Programme’s priority groups. In November HEFCW awarded grant funding for Bangor University’s RWNMWP to work collaboratively with other RW partners across Wales, including schools and colleges, to deliver a package of mentoring support for the academic year 2022/23, which will see higher education undergraduates acting as mentors to learners engaged in 16-19 education. The remit letter to HEFCW referenced that the Renew & Reform stakeholder group identified a need to develop a mentoring programme for learners in sixth forms and colleges which is to be delivered by existing university students to help expand horizons and grow the confidence, skills, and broaden aspirations of both the mentor and mentees. The purpose of the mentoring project is to contribute to supporting disrupted learning, which RW priority cohorts encountered during the Covid Pandemic. The programme aims to support the learners to access further and higher education.

Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
