EVENT: Slate, Coal and Countryside Seminar

Date: Wednesday 5 July 2023

Time: 12.00 - 13.30

Location: Pierhead

Description: Between January 2020 and December 2022 nine partners from the community sector – three from the Slate valleys of North Wales (Partneriaeth Ogwen, Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog and Siop Griffths); three from the coal valleys of the South (Ynysybwl Regeneration Partnership, DOVE in Banwen and People and Work in Rhondda)and three from Wales’ agricultural heartland (Credu Carers, Tir Coed and Tir Dewi) worked together on a project called Llechi, Glo a Chefn Gwlad. The project was focused on skilling up local people to work in their community and building a partnership across Wales based on the role that communities can play in the foundational and very local economy. A great deal was learned and I attach a report that highlights some of the key points. The evaluators -Y Ganolfan Cynllunio Iaith – also made a film around the value of partnership work https://youtu.be/KiGUhyLlCyA The work was funded by the Rank Foundation and the National Lottery Community Fund Supporting Great Ideas.

Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
