EVENT: World IBD Day (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) - Awareness Raising

Date: Wednesday 15 May 2019

Time: 12.00 - 16.30

Location: Oriel, Senedd

Description: This will be one of a series of events held around the world in the week leading up to World IBD Day is on 19th May. The event is designed to raise the profile of IBD, a range of life long conditions which affect over 15,000 people in Wales and over 300,000 across the UK. NHS staff within Wales are keen to provide the very best support to children and adults with IBD across Wales. However, some services here lag behind other areas of the UK and hence clinicians, surgeons, nurses, GPs have come together under the banner of 'IBD Wales' to help drive improvements in community and hospital based services in line with the current UK IBD Standards. To raise the profile of IBD, Assembly Members will be invited to attend a lunch time session where clinicians and patients will be on hand to explain the importance of early diagnosis, treatment and on-going community based support and how such intervention can both significantly improve a patient's life and can also save the NHS money.

Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
