EXHIBITION: Remembering Srebrenica

Date: Wednesday 9 May 2018 to Saturday 2 June 2018

Location: Futures Gallery, Pierhead

Description: 'WITNESS' is an exhibition that showcases the work of artist, Robert McNeil who worked as a forensic scientist in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the aftermath of the genocide. As a way of dealing with what he witnessed, McNeil painted images of his experiences in order to tell the stories from war, ethnic cleansing and genocide. An exhibition of significance for all humanity, 'WITNESS' demonstrates the power of art to communicate the most extreme of experiences. This exhibition is supported by the UK charity, Remembering Srebrenica who work to tackle hatred and intolerance in today's society by using the lessons of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide, which saw 8,372 men and boys systematically murdered in the space of 5 days. Recognised as the worst atrocity on European soil since the Second World War. WARNING: THIS EXHIBITION INCLUDES GRAPHIC IMAGES SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND UPSETTING. IF YOU ARE ACCOMPANYING CHILDREN AROUND THE EXHIBITION, PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE AND USE YOUR JUDGEMENT TO DECIDE WHETHER THE IMAGES AND TEXT ON DISPLAY ARE SUITABLE FOR THEM.
