The
Petitions Committee will begin holding virtual meetings from the week
commencing 11 May 2020. These initial meetings will focus on petitions relating
to COVID-19 and new petitions of a time sensitive nature. A decision will be
taken in the future on when the committee will be able to return to considering
all other petitions.
We launched
a new petitions website on 30 April 2020 in order to improve the experience of
starting and signing petitions to the Senedd.

Remit
The
Petitions Committee was established on 28 June 2016 to carry out the functions
of the responsible committee set out in Standing Order 23.
Its role is to
consider all admissible petitions that are submitted by the public. Petitions
have to be about issues that the Senedd has powers to take action on. The
petitions process enables the public to highlight issues and directly influence
the work of the Senedd. Its specific functions are set out in Standing Order
23.
