P-06-1362 Match the new childcare offer in England of 15 hours for 2 year old's from April 2024

The Committee discussed the petition and noted petition P-06-1359 Offer Welsh working parents the same financial support for childcare as England, which was considered at the last meeting.

 

Members agreed to write to the Welsh Government on both petitions to highlight the issues raised by Oxfam Cymru and seek further clarity before deciding on the next steps to take.

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to highlight it to the Local Government and Housing Committee and return to it once Stage 1 proceedings for the Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Bill have ended.

P-06-1332 Fund vaccine research to protect red squirrels from deadly Squirrelpox virus

The Committee considered the petition and the plenary debate – which included an appeal from a Member to be kept informed of progress. Members agreed to keep the petition open and seek an update on the position in 12 months’ time.

P-06-1299 Welsh Government 'Freeze on road building" to include a clause for cases that pose a danger to life

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write back to Rhondda Cynon Taf council to seek answers to a number of questions including:

 

  • Has a route for a relief road been identified; and

Are they actively lobbying the Welsh Government to look again at this particular scheme.
