Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest


1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.

1.2 In accordance with Standing Order 34.19, the Chair stated that she had determined that the public were excluded from the Committee’s meeting in order to protect public health but that the meeting would be broadcast live on

1.3 There were no apologies.

1.4 Under Standing Order 17.24A Sioned Williams MS declared her husband was employed by Swansea University.

2.1 The Committee scrutinised the Minister for Education and Welsh Language on the Welsh Government draft budget.

2.2 The Minister stated that his officials would work alongside the Committee clerks if necessary to identify in the written evidence he provided to the Committee specific details on funding for raising school standards.

3.2 The Committee agreed to write the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee to share the responses received to the Committee’s priorities consultation that relate to its inquiry into Mental health inequalities.

5.1 The Committee considered the evidence it had heard in the previous session.

Peer-on-peer sexual harassment among learners - consideration of the approach


6.1 The Committee agreed its approach to the inquiry, subject to the addition of some additional stakeholders for oral evidence and further information about alternative approaches to engagement with children and young people.
