3.1

This week's business

Minutes:

The Trefnydd drew Business Managers’ attention to the addition of the following statement:

 

·         Statement by the Minister for Education and the Welsh Language: Renew and reform: supporting learners’ well-being and progression (45 mins)

 

The Trefnydd agreed to extend the coronavirus regulations item to 30 minutes.

 

Business Committee agreed to the one proposed changeover. The Llywydd asked Business Managers to remind Members to leave the Chamber quickly, and those coming in not to do so until the bell has been rung.

 

The Llywydd informed Business Committee that Members will continue to have 1 minute per supplementary question, and party leaders will have 3 x 1 minute for their questions, as previously,

 

Wednesday 

 

·         Voting Time will take place as the last item of business.

·         Plenary is unlikely to run past 4.30pm.

Minutes:

Business Managers asked when further items would be added to the 3 week timetable. The Trefnydd explained that statements will be added to the agenda for 8 June later next week.

Tabling arrangements

4.1

Whitsun tabling arrangements 2021

Minutes:

Business Committee noted the following changes to tabling deadlines, due to the Whitsun Bank Holiday and Privilege Day on 31 May and 1 June:

·         Motions for debate on Tuesday 8 June to be tabled by 4pm on Friday 28 May; and

·         Ballots for oral questions due for answer on 8 and 9 June will take place at 9:30am on Friday 28 May.

Minutes:

Business Committee decided to defer decisions on appointing the Commission until after half term.

Establishment and Remits of Committees

6.1

Establishment of an interim committee for the purposes of Standing Order 21

Minutes:

Business Committee agreed to table the proposed motions to establish the Interim Committee on Subordinate Legislation (including its title, remit, membership and chair) for consideration in Plenary on Wednesday 26 May, as well as a motion to suspend Standing Orders to allow the motion to establish the committee to be considered. The Committee also noted the duration of the Interim Committee.

 

6.2

Establishing committees: Initial consideration

Minutes:

Business Managers agreed to consult their groups, with a view to the Business Committee taking decisions on its preferred approach at the next meeting. Officials would provide further modelling to inform consultation with groups.

 

Any Other Business

Table Office

 

The Trefnydd requested that the arrangement of Table Office remaining open on Friday evenings for the specific purpose of laying Covid regulations continue. Business Committee agreed.
