Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest

Minutes:

1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the virtual meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.

 

1.2 In accordance with Standing Order 34.19, the Chair stated that she had determined that the public were excluded from the Committee’s meeting in order to protect public health.

 

1.3 The Chair stated that if for any reason she dropped out of the meeting, the Committee agreed that Dawn Bowden MS would become Temporary Chair in accordance with Standing Order 17.22.

 

1.4 The Chair noted apologies from Hefin David MS. Jayne Bryant MS substituted.

COVID-19: Evidence session with the Welsh Government

2.1 Members questioned the Minister for Education about COVID-19 and its impact on children and young people.

2.2 The Minister and officials agreed to share with the Committee:

 -a review of blended learning carried out by  the regional education consortia and details of actions taken as a result of it; and

-a paper published jointly with Estyn and the regional education consortia giving more detail on advice to schools on blended learning.

2.3 It was agreed that questions that were unasked would be sent to the Minister for a written response.
