Short Debate NDM4993 Mick Antoniw (Pontypridd) Child Asylum Seekers and their protection in Wales The UK Government is holding back the Welsh Government’s abilities in relation to asylum seeking children in Wales. Child safeguarding is a devolved issue, but the extent to which the UK Government has interpreted its reserved competence of immigration, to treat any issue related to asylum seekers, asylum seeking children and refugees as reserved matter, including those areas which are devolved competencies of the National Assembly for Wales has, in many instance, run counter to the Welsh Government’s objectives for the citizens of Wales: on children’s rights, equality and working towards a fair and inclusive society Decision: The item started at 17:39.
