Organisation of Business

3.1

This Week's Business

Minutes:

The Minister for Finance and Government Business updated the Committee on changes to Government Business on Tuesday.

 

Motions to elect Members to committees would take place immediately after the Business Statement

 

On Tuesday, Voting Time would be after the final item of business. On Wednesday, Business Committee agreed that Voting Time would take place before the Short Debate.

Three week timetable of Government Business

Business Committee noted the 3 Week Timetable of Government Business.

Three week timetable of Assembly Business

Minutes:

Business Committee approved a proposal for the date of this year’s debate on the UK Government’s legislative programme, and considered the format the debate should take.

 

Business Managers agreed to schedule the debate on the UK Government’s legislative programme for 24 June 2015 and for this year’s debate to follow the same format as the previous two years – a two-hour debate only, with no statement.

 

Business Committee determined the organisation of business and agreed to schedule the following items of business:

 

Wednesday 24 June 2015 –
 

  • Questions to the Assembly Commission (15 mins)
  • Debate on the Queen’s Speech (120 mins)
  • Time allocated to the Welsh Liberal Democrats (60 mins)

Legislation

4.1

The Public Health (Wales) Bill

Minutes:

Business Managers considered a letter from the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee (HSC) and noted the committee’s concerns about the proposed timetable of the Public Health (Wales) Bill. Business Managers also noted the committee’s disappointment that in the Welsh Government’s management of its legislative programme it had not taken greater account of the impact on the Assembly’s Committees.

 

The Minister for Government Business agreed to review, with advice from Assembly Commission officials, the practical implications of extending the deadline to complete Stage 1 proceedings, as requested by the Health and Social Care Committee. Business Managers agreed to return to the matter at next week’s meeting.

Enterprise and Business Committee: Request to visit Brussels and Luxembourg

Minutes:

Business Managers agreed a request from the Enterprise and Business Committee to visit the European Commission in Brussels and European Investment Bank in Luxembourg from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 June 2015.
