5.1 The Committee discussed the letter and agreed that its timetable did not allow immediate consideration of paediatric neuro rehabilitation, but that it would consider it as a possible issue for future work.

The Committee agreed to refer this petition to the Health and Social Care Committee and then close it.

3.3 The Committee agreed to await the outcome of the Petitions Committee’s evidence session on the petition before taking any further action.

The Committee considered correspondence relating to the petition and agreed to:

Hold an oral evidence session on the issues raised by the petition;

Write to the Health and Social Care Committee Chair drawing his attention to the issues raised by the petition.

The Committee agreed to:

Write to the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committees to seek information on the numbers of children with complex neuro- rehabilitation needs requiring admission to the service at Tadworth in previous years in order to fully understand the scale of the issue;

Forward the correspondence from WHSSC to the petitioner for comment;

Write to Headway to seek its views on the issues raised by the petition and the correspondence from WHSSC.

The Committee considered an update to this petition.

Action

The Committee agreed to:

·               Write to the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee seeking an update on the 2011/12 plan and asking whether neuro-rehabilitation services have been included in this plan.
