  • ask the Minister to respond to the specific points raised by the lead petitioner; and once this is to hand
  • arrange an oral evidence session with the petitioners, along with the petitioners for P-04-480 (Private Sector Student Housing Standards), to gain a better understanding of the concerns.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to seek the Minister’s views on the petitioners’ correspondence and to consider in the light of the response whether to arrange an oral evidence session with the petitioners along with the petitioners for P-04-480, Address Private Sector Student Housing Standards.

The Committee considered correspondence from the Minister for Housing and Regeneration along with further comments from the petitioner and agreed to:

 

1.   Group the petition with P-04-480 Address Private Sector Student Housing Standards, as requested by the petitioner; and

2.   Defer consideration of this petition, given the Minister’s commitment to introduce a compulsory registration and licensing scheme for private rented sector landlords and letting and management agents as part of the Housing Bill.
