The Committee took evidence from the Welsh Government Director General, Health
and Social Services and Chief Executive of NHS Wales, Dr Andrew Goodall,
Director of Social Services & Integration, Albert Heaney and Deputy Director,
Integration, Policy and Delivery Division Lisa Dunsford.
5.2
The Welsh Government officials agreed to provide the following information:
·
clarify
what proportion of the 20 cases from two health boards contained in the sample
audit were learning disability or dementia cases and share the outcomes of the
review of those cases;
·
confirm
which health board withdrew its involvement in testing the Decision Support Tool
(DST);
·
provide
a note on the difficulties Betsi Cadwaladr have had in recruiting to
professional roles and confirm whether they are now at full strength; and
·
provide
a note about the size of the tender within each health board with regards to
the advocacy services for continuing healthcare.

Health and Social Services and agreed to consider his further updates in June
and September. The Committee will return to this issue in the autumn following
the AGW’s planned memorandum on the progress made on reducing the claims
deficit and the launch of the revised framework.

Healthcare.
3.2 The Committee agreed that the Chair should write to the
Minister for Health and Social Services seeking clarity on a number of issues.
3.3 The Committee noted that the the Wales Audit Office has
offered to prepare a memorandum on the progress made on reducing the claims
deficit and the launch of the revised framework in the autumn and will then
consider whether to undertake an update to the inquiry.

The Welsh Government agreed to provide cumulative data identifying the number of claims being processed, clearance levels and the number of challenges made to outcomes.

Minutes:
3.1 The Chair welcomed Huw Vaughan Thomas, the Auditor General for Wales; Paul Dimblebee, Group Director, Wales Audit Office; and Steve Ashcroft, Performance Audit Manager, Wales Audit Office.
3.2 The Chair invited The Auditor General for Wales to brief the Committee on the findings of his report ‘Implementation of the Framework for Continuing NHS Healthcare’.
