Minutes:
The
Committee considered correspondence and agreed to close the petition, given
that the petitioners are members of the Task and Finish group which has made
recommendations to the Welsh Government, and the Cabinet Secretary for
Environment and Rural Affairs commitment to consider which actions to take
forward.

noted that Coed Cadw are now members of the Task and Finish Group and agreed to
await the Minister informing the Committee of the outcome of the Group’s
findings.

The Committee considered
correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister welcoming
his response and asking him to notify the Committee of:

the structure and
membership of the Task and Finish Group;
·
whether the
Minister would consider a nominee from Coed Cadw for the Task and Finish Group;
·
the findings of
the Task and Finish Group once it has completed its work and any resulting
action plan.
The Committee also agreed to
forward details of the petition and the Committee’s consideration of it to the
Task and Finish Group.

· seek the petitioner’s views on the correspondence from Natural Resources Wales, asking where they would like to see further action to protect ancient, veteran and heritage trees.
