Election of the Presiding Officer under Standing Order 6

Minutes:

The item started at 14.00

The Llywydd invited nominations in accordance with Standing Order 6.6.

Jayne Bryant nominated Huw Irranca-Davies. Jane Dodds seconded the nomination.

Sam Rowlands nominated Paul Davies. As the nomination was not seconded in accordance with the requirements of Standing Order 6.6, the nomination was not valid.

The Llywydd proposed that Huw Irranca-Davies be elected as Presiding Officer. As there was an objection to that proposal, a secret ballot took place in accordance with Standing Order 6.8. Prior to the vote, the Llywydd invited Huw Irranca-Davies to address the Senedd.

In accordance with Standing Order 12.18, the meeting was suspended at 14.07 for the secret ballot.

The meeting resumed at 14.44.

The results of the secret ballot were as follows:

Therefore, Huw Irranca-Davies was elected as Llywydd.

At 14.46, the newly elected Llywydd took the Chair.

Election of the Deputy Presiding Officer under Standing Order 6

In accordance with Standing Order 12.11, the following business may be taken at the first meeting if the Senedd, by resolution, agrees:

The Llywydd (Huw Irranca-Davies) invited nominations in accordance with Standing Order 6.6.

Matthew Jones nominated Kerry Ferguson. Anthony Slaughter seconded the nomination.

There were no other nominations. Therefore, the Llywydd proposed that Kerry Ferguson be elected as Deputy Presiding Officer. As there were no objections, the Llywydd declared Kerry Ferguson elected as the Deputy Presiding Officer.
