Nomination of the First Minister under Standing Order 8

Minutes:

The item started at 14.51

The Senedd resolved to take nominations for the appointment of First Minister, in accordance with Standing Order 12.11.

The Llywydd invited nominations for the appointment of First Minister, in accordance with Standing Order 8.2.

Zaynub Akbar nominated Rhun ap Iorwerth.

Llŷr Powell nominated Dan Thomas.

Andrew RT Davies nominated Darren Millar.

As there were three nominations, a vote was conducted by roll call. The Llywydd invited each Member present to vote for a candidate. Members were called in alphabetical order. In accordance with Standing Order 8.2, neither the Llywydd nor the Deputy Presiding Officer were permitted to vote.

In accordance with section 47(4) of the Government of Wales Act, the Llywydd stated his intention to recommend to His Majesty the appointment of Rhun ap Iorwerth as First Minister. The Llywydd invited the First Minister and party leaders to address the Senedd.

In accordance with Standing Order 12.8, the Llywydd will ensure that Members are informed of the date and time of the next meeting.
