The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport asking for:

·         her further comments in the light of the petitioner’s views; and

·         an update on the position in respect of the renewal of the North-South Premier Service, which is scheduled for renewal in May and when she is likely to be able to make an announcement on the North-South Express.

·         write to the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport:

o   Seeking an update in the light of her written statement and the petitioner’s comments;

o   Seeking further information on her preparations ahead of the franchise renewal due in 2018, including how she will be collecting and collating information received on views expressed relating to the provision of rail services; and

·         draw the petitioner’s attention to the upcoming tender.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport asking that the Committee is kept updated with progress on this issue.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to;

·         write to the Minister for Local Government and Communities highlighting the difficulties faced as a result of the timetabling, asking him to consider these issues in more detail, and whether any discussions have taken place between the Welsh Government and Arriva; and

·         share with the petitioner when published, the Enterprise and Business Committees’ report on Integrated Public Transport.

The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Local Government and Communities, as well as to Arriva Trains Wales to seek their views.
